eBay Changes affecting FreeForm and EAPH Hosting
Regarding Active Content and Links
Regardless of any notifications you receive from eBay regarding "Active Content", visit your listings to determine if you really do need to change anything. eBay is already disabling "Active Content" so you'll be able to see what affect that has had. Understand that eBay will not penalize you for the presence of Active Content. Thus, as long as there is no important affect to your item descriptions you need not change (fix) anything.

eBay has also made changes that require all links to open into new windows. When visiting your listings be sure to test any links within them to determine if they are still functioning. If you need to you may edit the HTML to add target="_blank" to your links.

eBay links policy no longer allows the presence of contact information including email addresses (links), phone numbers, and social media links. Historically eBay has not acted upon their links policy unless the seller is obviously trying to lure a shopper away from eBay to avoid paying eBay transaction fees. That could change.

If you have used FreeForm ...

If you have used the original FreeForm at robshelp.com then your item descriptions could be affected with use of Code Input Areas. For example, if you have imported EAPH Plugins or an EAPH Window Shopping Gallery those have stopped working. NOTE: The EAPH plugins and Window Shopping Gallery will probably not be revised to work without Active Content.

Also, keep in mind that links to other pages or pictures must open in new windows. Both FreeForm and FreeForm2 provide that option for links.

If you have used FreeForm2 ...

If you have used the separate FreeForm2 at freeform2.robshelp.com and you have used the "Enlarge in Place" or "Mouseover Enlarge" methods for displaying photos prior to January 2017 those have stopped working. As of January 2017 those two methods within FreeForm2 have been revised to not employ Active Content.

If you have imported EAPH Plugins or an EAPH Window Shopping Gallery those have stopped working. NOTE: The EAPH plugins and Window Shopping Gallery will probably not be revised to work without Active Content.

Also, keep in mind that links to other pages or pictures must open in new windows. Both FreeForm and FreeForm2 provide that option for links.
Regarding HTTP and HTTPS
HTTP is the standard protocol for display of pages and images over an Internet connection. HTTPS adds security to the Internet connection. Starting in October 2017 eBay will begin testing to determine if item descriptions contain images that are hosted with the HTTP (not HTTPS) protocol. When the less secure HTTP method is detected eBay will present a link to the item description instead of displaying it immediately. eBay has provided this example for how the link will appear:

EAPH Hosting and the images that are included with FreeForm and FreeForm2 (such as borders and backgrounds) are HTTP, not HTTPS. So, beginning in October any item description containing them will be treated by eBay as described above. Just as with "Active Content", the presence of HTTP hosted images within an item description is not a policy violation - it is just handled differently.

Nothing New For Many Shoppers
Such a link is how mobile device users are already required to view an item description regardless of its HTTP or HTTPS content. So, there is no change for shoppers who are using tablets or smart phones to shop for your items on eBay.
